From the German & Austrian Violin Makers by Karel Jalovec.Born in 1899 in Markneukirchen. Bow and violin making. Son of Christian Paul S., who taught him the rudiments of the trade. Later he was apprenticed to Stark & Co. of Markneukirchen, then he worked with Robert Paul Penzel and Rammig in Markneukirchen and in Weichold's workshops in Dresden. In 1947 he established himself independently in Dresden. Though specialised in bow-making, he also is known for his violins.
